Project:
MapMe: Navigation by association
*This work was chosen by the school committee to be showcased at the 2012 SFU Surrey Open House
Role:
Interaction design, UI/UX
Description:
Inspired by the issue of drivers overly reliant on GPS systems, MapMe is a GPS based Portable Navigation Device that explores cognitive mapping by association to improve on road safety. Along with voice guidance which speaks out the names of the passing landmarks while driving, driver will also be able to preview their route to learn more about an unfamiliar region. This turn by turn navigation with the association with objects in the real environment triggers drivers' awareness of the surroundings again.
